So so

Posted June 15th, 2007, in Blog-related.

Sakura making a fairly mesmerising expression

So I realised every second entry on this page starts with so. So I’ll stop that.

Anyway, (Anyway is a lot more sophisticated), I guess this moment signifies the official opening of what used to be a secret blog thing! I’m still not totally comfy with Wordpress yet, so forgive some sloppiness with the custom template I made.

The main thing I want to say here is that this blog is totally open for anyone to read now, and don’t feel bad commenting on months-old stuff. This blog is primarily a repository for what other people might more formally call “essays”, so don’t think I’m all about up to the minute reports on anything. Why, my next entry is about a four year old PDA.

It’s worth checking out the Sandbox theme. It makes theming and skinning Wordpress unbelievably easy.

Plugins i’d recommend installing are Akismet (especially if you’re expecting this site to be indexed), Sidebar widgets (awesome AJAX interface for managing the bits of your sidebar, now included in WP mainline), and Ultimate Google Analytics (really handy for working out who your visitors are).

Wow, thanks. I’m totally a whore for Akismet, it completely solved my spam problem (I get about 10-20 a day here, which is kinda disturbing when I have zero real comments and about 6 posts.) It’s magical and amazing, and seems to work even better than my mail filter in figuring out what’s crap and what’s not - your post got through fine, for example, even with all those spammy-looking links!

If you check out the header of this page, you’ll see I’m spying on the world with Mint, which is kinda like a payware fancier Google Analytics. I’m not sure if I’m comfortable with it, but it seems to do integration with Wordpress too. I’ll definitely give it a shot if I give up on Mint and move to Google’s stats stuff, though.

I am now rather sad that I didn’t know of Sandbox earlier. I spent a while looking for a basic theme like that, but never found what I wanted. I’ll keep Sandbox in mind for the future, and probably steal some of its code, but I think the time to use it has long since passed :(

“So I realized” nothing. I pointed it out to you. Thank me for preventing you from continuing to sound like a dumbshit.

I didn’t “realize” shit, I “realised”. And I forgot who was it that told me that, I was actually leaning towards Segaholic but didn’t want to make a fool out of myself for mentioning him erroneously.

I only use British spellings when I want to sound like a pretentious cock. You can cope with my Americanized spellings.

Segaholic is worthless and you should apologize to me for the mistake. Publically. With a new blog entry.

Oh, this is actually public now. (So I’m really late. So.) I guess I can add this to my RSS feed, or something.

To do fancy formatting, use HTML, like <i>italicised</i>, <b>bold</b> or even <a href="http://www.google.com/">linked</a>.

I bet you’re feeling lost. Why not head back to the Soaringrabbit.com homepage and find something else to read?

All this nonsense is down to SuitCase (Email link), but if you want to comment you might do better to use the comments system here. Not that I mind emails. In case your browser missed it, we have feeds for blog posts (RSS link) and all comments posted to the blog (RSS link).
